Since 2010 Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater has been presenting their unique brand of entertainment in Los Angeles. Originally staged in a storefront galley in Silver Lake, the company became the “resident sock puppet company” at the Atwater Crossing development in Atwater Village in 2012. Later that year the company moved it’s monthly show to The Echo in Echo Park where it currently runs every third Saturday night of the month at 8pm.
The company’s repertory includes pilot episodes raging from the 1950s to the 1990s. During each show “producers,” Glamor Puss and Frenchie, lead the audience on a journey back in time to the year the sitcom premiered including musical medleys, commercials and news stories. Company performers are drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds including voiceover, improv, puppetry, cabaret, theater, media design and rock ‘n roll. In addition to performing regularly at The Echo recently presented an original production of Sock Puppet Cinderella for Grand Perfomances in downtown Los Angeles.
